The Kentucky Geological Survey maintains databases of research data that are searchable on the Web.
Below are links to to services that can be use to find various types of oil and gas data, and links to other sites pertaining
to oil and gas research in Kentucky.
- Search for Oil & Gas Well Records
Retrieve oil and gas well data by county, quadrangle, Carter Coordinates, and other parameters. Search results can be downloaded with well locations. Links are provided to view and download the scanned images of the well logs (including E-logs), view available well sample and core data, and individual KY Division of Oil and Gas well production data. Well production data for a returned list of wells can also be downloaded into one file. To view log images, you must download a FREE plug-in to view DjVu images from Lizardtech.
- Oil & Gas Production
Plot and retrieve yearly or monthly oil and gas well production data for the entire state, basins, or counties in Kentucky. Download Kentucky Division of Oil and Gas individual well production data for a county or quadrangle. FYI: Production data for individual wells is also available via the oil and gas well records search. More info.- Historic shale gas production data (Excel Spreadsheet in .zip file):Annual natural gas production data for over 380 Devonian Ohio Shale wells in eastern Kentucky between 1923 and 1984 are now available. These data are distributed "as is", with no warranty as to accuracy or the identification of the wells.

- Oil & Gas Well Locations Shapefile Download
- Create An Oil & Gas Gathering Line Map
This service which allows users to create a map to be used for the plotting of oil and gas gathering lines. Follow this link for more information and regulations for reporting KY gathering lines.
