KGS
Oil and Gas Scanned Log Scanning Policy

KGS will process your request according to this policy:

Requests will be processed in the order they are received but with the following caveats:
  1. KGS will process up to 25 wells for a single customer per request. If the customer request exceeds 25 wells, the first 25 wells in the order will be processed then returned to the queue as a new request. The next 25 wells will be processed and, if more wells are requested, the request will be returned to the queue as a new request. This process will continue until all of the order is fulfilled.
  2. Requests for wells must be smaller than county-wide. KGS will not process any order that asks for all of the wells in “xyz county”. Such requests will be used to help focus our archiving in active areas, but will not result in processing requests for customers.
  3. Requests will be combined with other customer requests if KGS deems that it is more efficient to process all of the records in a specific area. A request arriving later, therefore, may be processed before requests that arrived earlier simply because it happens to match an existing request that is already in the queue.
  4. Customers must include contact information to help resolve questions.

In addition to this policy, KGS reserves the right to limit customers in the number of wells and frequency of their requests for scanning oil and gas records. This is to ensure that all customers receive equitable and timely service. Customers will continue to have the option of viewing unscanned records at the KGS core and sample library.

UPDATE THIS PART: An appointment to view records must be made in advance by calling the Kentucky Geological Survey at 859-257-5500 ext. 120 or by email to KGS-PUB@LSV.UKY.EDU
